Strawberry Chocoflan



For the cake:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

For the flan:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Prepare the cake batter: Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the instructions on the box. Pour the batter into the greased cake pan.
  3. Arrange strawberries: Scatter the sliced strawberries evenly over the cake batter.
  4. Prepare the flan mixture: In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  5. Layer the flan mixture: Gently pour the flan mixture over the cake batter and strawberries in the cake pan.
  6. Bake: Place the cake pan inside a larger baking dish. Fill the larger dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan. Carefully transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and chill: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to set.
  8. Serve: To serve, run a knife around the edges of the cake pan to loosen the chocoflan. Invert the cake onto a serving platter, allowing the flan layer to become the top. Slice and enjoy the delicious strawberry chocoflan!
