**Instructions**

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk according to package directions. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow it to set slightly.
2. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
3. Gradually beat in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
4. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until no streaks remain.
5. Remove the vanilla pudding from the refrigerator and fold it into the cream cheese and whipped topping mixture.
6. To assemble the pudding, spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
7. Arrange a single layer of vanilla wafers over the cream cheese mixture.
8. Top the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas, followed by a layer of sliced strawberries.
9. Spoon half of the remaining cream cheese mixture over the fruit.
10. Repeat the layers: vanilla wafers, bananas, strawberries, and then the remaining cream cheese mixture.
11. Spread the remaining whipped topping evenly over the top layer.
12. Garnish with a few extra sliced strawberries and vanilla wafers, if desired.
13. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.

**Short Tips**

* For an extra burst of strawberry flavor, you can lightly mash a few strawberries and mix them into a small portion of the whipped cream topping for a pink swirl.
* To prevent bananas from browning quickly, you can gently toss them in a little lemon juice before layering, although with this recipe, they’re usually eaten too quickly for it to be an issue!
* Get creative with your layers! You can add a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for a different twist.
* This recipe is easily halved for a smaller crowd or a quicker individual dessert in parfait glasses.
* Ensure your cream cheese is truly softened for a smooth, lump-free mixture. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
