Milk Bread recipe, also known as Japanese Hokkaido milk bread. It’s tender, slightly sweet, and perfect for sandwiches, toast, or enjoying on its own!

Ingredients:

  • Tangzhong (Water Roux):
    • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup water
    • ¼ cup milk
  • Dough:
    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tbsp powdered milk (optional, for extra richness)
    • 3 tbsp sugar
    • 2 tsp instant yeast
    • ½ tsp salt
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • ½ cup warm milk
    • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 egg (for egg wash)
