- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each. Stir in the vanilla.
- Gently fold in the flour until just combined—do not overmix! If using chocolate chips, fold them in now.
- Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the center is set but still slightly gooey.
- Let cool completely (if you can resist!) before slicing into 16 squares. 👩🍳 Baker’s Tips For a super fudgy texture, underbake by 2–3 minutes.
Sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top before baking for a perfect sweet-salty contrast.
