👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prep the Oven & Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch sheet pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
3. Whisk the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. Set aside.
4. Make the Cocoa Mixture
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with water and cocoa powder. Bring it just to a boil, stirring often. Once it starts bubbling, remove from heat.
5. Combine the Cake Batter
Carefully pour the hot cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until mostly combined. Add the sour cream mixture and mix until the batter is smooth and glossy.
6. Bake
Pour the batter into your prepared pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
