Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat. Stir frequently and cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are softened. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, salt, oregano, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Combine the noodles with sour cream and chopped green onions, mixing gently until well coated.
- Assemble the casserole:
- Spread half of the noodle mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon half of the meat sauce over the noodles.
- Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over the sauce.
- Repeat with the remaining noodles, sauce, and cheeses to form layers.
- Top with grated Parmesan cheese, sprinkling evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the cheese on top is fully melted and lightly golden.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps everything set up nicely and makes it easier to slice and serve.
It’s cheesy, savory, and full of love—just like Grandma made it. ❤️
