Instructions:
- Prepare the Beef
- Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/4-inch thick, against the grain for tenderness.
- Pat the slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Make the Marinade
- In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey or brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Mix well to combine.
- Marinate the Beef
- Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat the Air Fryer
- Set your air fryer to 180°F (82°C) or the lowest temperature setting.
- Arrange the Beef
- Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry to prevent dripping.
- Lay the strips in a single layer on the air fryer rack or basket, ensuring they don’t overlap.
- Cook the Jerky
- Air fry for 2-3 hours, flipping the strips halfway through.
- Check for doneness: the jerky should be firm but not brittle, with no visible moisture.
- Cool and Store
- Let the jerky cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
- It will keep for up to 1 week at room temperature or longer in the fridge.
Tips for Perfect Jerky:
- Choose Lean Cuts: Fat can spoil the jerky faster, so trim excess fat.
- Uniform Slices: Use a meat slicer or freeze the beef for 20 minutes before slicing for even pieces.
- Flavor Variations: Add liquid smoke, teriyaki sauce, or chili powder for different flavor profiles.
Why Air Fryer Jerky?
